Dr. Larry Smith

Dr. Smith graduated from high school in Brewster, Washington in 1980. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Washington University in 1984. He attended the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1988. He then spent one year in a rotating Internship through Michigan State University in Flint, Michigan. Three years later, he finished a program in Internal Medicine in Tucson, Arizona. He has been practicing Internal Medicine since 1992 in Washington State and is now practicing at Okanogan Douglas Hospital in his hometown of Brewster, Washington, where he is the Director of Emergency and Intensive Care Services. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Smith is currently Vice Chief Commisioner of the Washington State Board of Osteopathic Medicine. He has served on the Manuscript Review Board of Journals including The Journal of Respiratory Diseases, Clinical Geriatrics, Contemporary Internal Medicine, and The Journal of Clinical Outcomes Management. He has served as the Department of Health Medical Program Director for the Emergency Medical Systems in both Pend Oreille and Grant counties. He spent five years as the Medical Director of the Pend Oreille Pines Nursing Home in Newport, Washington. In 1998, he served as a Quality Improvement Committee member of Providence Health Plan of Seattle, Washington.

He is currently Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences at SABA School of Medicine.

His family has a long history of working in the medical profession. His father was a general surgeon and his two brothers practice Internal Medicine and Family Medicine. His sister is a Certified Nurse Midwife and also practices in Brewster, Washington. His mother worked as Director of the Medical Records Department at Okanogan Douglas Hospital for many years.

Dr. Smith is also opening a medically supervised weight loss program in January, 2005 (see "Snooze News" on our home page).



Dr. Eric Haeger

Dr. Haeger joined the Okanogan Douglas Hospital family of physicians in January, 2005, serving in a broad range of patient care as an ER provider, rural family practice, Medical Officer for hyperbarics, obstetrics. C-sections and Supervisor for PA's. Dr. Haeger is currently ODH's Chief of Staff.

He attended Stanford University School of Sleep Medicine and joined the Sleep Medicine Center in early 2007.

His education has brought him from Washington to Loma Linda University School of Medicine, to the University of Rochester, New York and back to Washington.

He resides in Pateros with his wife and children. His medical experiences have led him to many places, such as Guam, Micronesia and New Guinea.

Dr. Haeger adds a vast range of experience and expertise to the Sleep Center and allows the Center to continue its pattern of continued growth.

Colton has been with Okanogan Douglas Hospital since 2000 as a Respiratory Therapist, then Supervisor, Manager and now Director of the Cardiopulmonary Department and Manager of the ODH Sleep Medicine Center.

Colton started the ODH Sleep Medicine Center (SMC) in 2004 with Dr. Larry Smith, D.O., Dale Polla, CEO at ODH, Sandy Walter, COO, and the strong committment of the ODH Board of Directors.

Born in Montana, Colton grew up in Southern California, moving north in 1995 after gaining 5 years of valuable experience in trauma and neonatal specialties at some of Southern California's most prestigeous teaching hospitals.

As a resident of Pateros with his wife, Colton has dedicated himself to the ODH vision, overseeing 3 growing departments striving to meet the needs of patients throughout Central Washington.

Marci was born and raised in Wenatchee, Washington. She has 3 children, ages 21, 20 and 16.

She has 6 years experience in neurodiagnostics/EEG, and 2 years experience in sleep medicine.

Marci attended Central Washington University, South Puget Sound Community College, and California College for Health Sciences.



Shawn Swope, Sleep Tech

Shawn is a native of Iowa, recently relocated with his wife and 2 children to East Wenatchee.

He has 4 years work experience in the field of sleep, working at the Iowa Sleep Disorder Clinic and Mercy Medical Center, both of which are in Des Moines, Iowa. Shawn has been a registered Polysomnographer since July of 2005.
